The Nokia N97 Mini is an absolutely superb mobile phone with side slide and tilting screen with dimensions of 113 x 52.5 x 14.2 mm and a weight of just 138 grams with battery and a volume of just 75 cc. The sliding tilt mechanism makes its operation absolutely convenient for those of us who need to maintain an extremely busy lifestyle. The Nokia N97 Mini has a full slide out keyboard with cover, touch, arrow keys, and dedicated camera and volume keys.
With a size of 3.2" and a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels, its QVGA screen provides up to 16.7 million colours. There are various personalization features provides such as customizable home screen, widgets, themes, icons, shortcuts, menu, along with customizable provides, ring tones (mp3, AAC, eAAC, eAAC+, WMA), video ring tones, and themes such as wallpapers, screensavers, ring tones, pre-installed themes, and changeable colour themes.
A variety of personalization features are provided on the Nokia N97 Mini mobile phone such as customizable home screen, customizable profiles, ring tones, video ring tones and themes. Power management is handled by a BL-4D 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery with a talk-time of 430 minutes on GSM and 240 minutes on WCDMA and a standby time of 320 hours on GSM and upto 310 h on WCDMA. The phone is operable on QUAD band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 bands and WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100 bands. Additionally, there is automatic switching between GSM bands and flight mode as well.
For connectivity issues, the Nokia N97 Mini has Bluetooth version 2 with EDR, TV out, USB 2.0 (micro USB connector), remote SyncML synchronization, and 3.5 mm AV connector. The phone also has an internal memory of 8 GM and a microSD memory card slot, which is hot swappable up to 16 GB. The phone also supports a wide data network of CSD/HSCSD/GPRS class A/WCDMA, HSDPA, WLAN, TCP/IP support, data modem capability, and MS outlook sync. The software platform is S60 5th edition while the user interface is the Symbian OS version 9.4. The phone also supports FOTA (Firmware Update Over The Air).
The Nokia N97 Mini also supports a variety of Personal Information Management features like detailed contact information, Calendar, To-do list, notes, recorder, calculator, clock and converter. Moreover, it is gifted with various applications such as Email, MMS, SMS, unified editor, data, PC applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Organizer, Lotus Notes. The N97 Mini also features easy-to-us email client with attachment support for images, videos, music, and documents. It is supported for SMTP, IMAP4, POP3, MMS, and SMS. For contacts, there is an advanced contacts database with support for multiple phone and e-mail details per entry and thumbnail pictures. Other call management features include speed dialling, voice dialling, voice commands, dialled logs, dialled, received and missed calls, conference calling, integrated hands-free speakers, and video calling.
Versatile sharing and internet features include full web browsing of real web pages, web browsing with touch control, supported markup languages (HTML, XHTML MP, WML, CSS), Nokia Mobile Search, RSS reader, support for Nokia Download!, support for streaming video, photos, online share, Nokia XpressPrint (PictBridge), Bluetooth connectivity, and even video call and video sharing support.
The Nokia N97 Mini has GPS and navigation features like integrated GPS, A-GPS receivers, compass and accelerometer, Nokia Maps and also a 10-day Walk and Drive Navigation license included. For photography, a 5 MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics is included with still image formats such as JPEG and EXIF. With auto focus and dual LED flash and 14x zoom, there is a secondary VGA camera for video calls.
For memory purposes, the Nokia N97 Mini has 8 GB internal memory that is expandable up to 24 GB with micro SD card. For video uses, the main camera is a 5 MP camera with cark Zeiss optics can take high quality 16:9 videos. Video capture is in MPEG-4 up to VGA at 30 fps. The video clip length is up to 90 minutes and the video file format is .mp4 for default videos and .3gp for MMS. A variety of settings for scene, video light, white balance, colour tone and secondary camera such as QCIF for video calls is available. A range of video sharing and playback options are available along with video codes and formats.
